Casa Movimento – After School Education Center

Sao Paulo, SP – Brazil

Located in a central area of the City of Sao Paulo and surrounded by several private schools, this Educational Center was developed to offer after-school activities to students from different institutions. The Center provided multi-disciplinary activities, including the arts, sports, music, cooking classes, reading rooms and yoga instruction.

The architectural challenge for this adaptive reuse project was to convert the existing rigid concrete shell into a welcoming learning Center with inviting, safe and integrated spaces for the youngsters with a focus in sustainable design. The new entry included a full height green wall, the reception desk was built from old growth reclaimed wood and the organic vegetable garden included a rainwater irrigation system.

Mauricio planned the spaces, designed the built-ins and furniture for this project.
